Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases used as a fuel for cooking, heating and automobiles. The odor of LPG is caused by the presence of an odorant that is applied to the gas for safety purposes. LPG is odorless, colorless, and weighs more than air. It has a high caloric value, which helps it to generate more heat in a shorter amount of time. It is a clean-burning fuel that is normally sold in liquid form in cylinders of various sizes.
